MATISSE, Henri (1869-1954). Autographed letter signed ("H. Matisse"), in French, to an unnamed recipient, Cimiez, 20 January 1949.
1 page, 4to, creased to folds; matted and framed with a portrait of Matisse in his studio. Thanking the recipient for a letter and discussing a collaboration with Colette. "Although Colette's collaboration is very important to me, I was remaining in obscurity, full of hope. When she has a chance to think of me, that will make me happy" The collaboration he is discussing may be for Colette's La Vagabonde, published in 1951, which included a lithograph portrait frontispiece by Matisse.
