Two tears to the canvas: one tear in the lower-right quadrant to the lower edge of the bodice of the dress (approximately 3 inches in length); the other tear to the subject's proper-left sleeve (approximately 1 3/8 inches in length). Canvas is lined. Some cockling to the canvas. Scattered, minor abrasions to the edges of the paint layer where the canvas meets the frame. Examination under UV light reveals instances of overpainting to the tears, as well as a possible repaired horizontal tear or split to the paint layer along the lower portion of the bodice. Scattered, minor areas of retouch throughout. Frame appears either original or as old as the painting. Frame: 73 x 35 inches
