Edwin Lord Weeks, (American, 1849-1903), Marketplace, Tangiers, 1879-80

Note: this work is oil on canvas laid down on Masonite. Painting in overall good, stable condition but fairly dirty. Light craquelure throughout. No evidence of loss or repair. Examination under UV light reveals a series of "drips" primarily to the left side of the work, possibly from an uneven application of varnish. Frame stable, appears contemporary to the painting. Some age splits to gilt with some scattered loss with gesso exposed. One corner detached but retained. Additional images available upon request.
