Original relief binding of "carved" wood decorated to an ornate foliate pattern, cloth spine, by Remnant & Edmonds with their ticket (upper lower right corner with small chip with loss, some light wear to spine with minor losses to spine ends). FIRST EDITION, the wood sides heat-stamped (not carved) by Remnant & Edmonds, "The only book cover known to have been produced by the process" (McLean).
