the domed hood with three brass finials above the glazed door enclosing a brass dial with a silvered metal chapter ring having Roman numeral hours and Arabic numeral minutes, further set with a seconds dial and date aperture, signed Hedge Colchester, the straight case inlaid to depict phoenixes among foliate scrolls and cornucopias, all flanked by fluted columnar pilasters and raised on bracket feet.
