In good, stable condition consistent with age. Canvas is probably re-lined. Layer of surface grime, particularly evident on the white portion of the composition. Light craquelure throughout. Dark dot between the eyebrows of the subject. Examination under UV light reveals scattered areas of retouch throughout, as well as several apparent horizontal creases to the canvas that may have formed when the canvas was re-lined.
