Skibo was Boswell's friend and collaborator on at least two projects., including a rare poetical pamphlet. Boswell mentions Dempster on hundreds of occasion in his Journal, as a whoring and drinking companion, as lawyer and politician, and fellow supplicant at the Johnsonian shrine. This and other details according to (included) catalogue entry of Pickering and Chatto. CONDITION: top corner creased on a couple of pages (heaviest p. 298 vol. II); few pencilled marks ("x") to vol. II and penned marginalia in vol. I - additional withdrawal stamp on verso of p. 512 vol. I; plates lightly toned; some light brown spotting in vol. I; rear hinge cracked on vol. I; otherwise contents are in very good condition.
