I) and Catherine de Medici (vol. II) to upper covers, a.e.g., silk endpapers, red cloth felt-lined slipcases, silk ties, gilt turn-ins. Originally illustrated with nine engraved portraits, this set is extra-illustrated with 46 additional plates, of which 14 are in color. Each volume with bookplates of Albert Henry Wiggin, Lynde Selden and another Selden family bookplate; several bookplates are no longer attached, leaving adhesive residue on an endpaper; minimal rubbing to the extremities, spine edges and a few tiny scuffs to the spines; light wear to slipcases.
