the bottle having brown overlay transparent ground, of flattened shield form, carved to the brown areas depicting butterflies and clouds, both sides painted to show seated figures playing flute within a landscape, signed Ding Erzhong (late Qing Dynasty), dated wuzi dongri ("Winter day in year wuzi").
