Property from the Estate of George Willis Pack (1831-1906), Ashville, NC. Thence by descent to the present owner.
Approximate Ring Size: 7 1/4 Gem Characteristics (graded in setting) RUBY NOTE: Please refer to the AGL ruby identification and origin certificate for further information. Color: The ruby exhibits a red hue, medium tone and strong (vivid) saturation. The red hue intensifies noticeably under incandescent and in sunlit environments due to the very strong red fluorescence. The stone takes on a very minor (approximately 5% or less) purple modifier under a daylight equivalent grading lamp. Clarity: The stone exhibits fairly evenly distributed zones of particulate (no needles were observed) rutile or "silk" which creates a noticeable "velvet" quality to the color and appearance of the stone. This effect will remain present even after the repolishing of the stone. The stone contains a minute included crystal under the table visible with 10X magnification which, when combined with the particulate rutile with distinctive growth boundaries, creates a "classic" inclusion scene associated with rubies recovered from the Mogok region of Burma (Myanmar) in the opinion of the director. Condition: The facet junctions across the entire top and girdle edge of the ruby show even and noticeable abrasion while the polished facets show superficial scratches and abrasion. The wear is limited to a very superficial depth and could be removed with repolishing without significant weight loss. DIAMOND Color: E-F Clarity: SI1+ (due to bruise in crown, clarity appears improvable) Condition: the stone exhibits numerous minor to significant chips to the girdle/crown area, the facet junctions of the crown/table display numerous abrasions. Fluorescence: None
