An Art Deco Gold, Sapphire, Enamel and Agate Desk Clock Set, Cartier Paris, Circa 1920,

consisting of a wedge form carved translucent grey agate base with grooved pen rest inset with a circular clock, the two section silvered dial with central guilloche sunburst pattern and outer matte finish signed Cartier Made in France, Roman numerals, gold cathedral hands, the bezel accented with black enamel banding and four round cabochon cut sapphires at the compass points, the desk clock measuring approximately 11.40 x 7.30 x 2.86 cm in its entirety, together with a collapsible 18 karat yellow gold mechanical pencil signed Cartier Paris.Accompanied by the original red case signed Cartier with fitted compartments for the clock and pencil.

The watch movement is signed EUROPEAN WATCH AND CLOCK Co INC FRANCE and has 15 jewels with three adjustments. The clock stops and starts, a professional inspection and service of the movement is suggested. The desk clock is whole and intact, the agate base shows very minor edge wear along the top corners and minor-moderate chips to the lower edges, the enamel accents in the bezel show minor loss at one of the scrolled sections near the bezel set cabochon cut sapphire, the dial shows scattered small discolored areas and the painte for the numerals has minute deficiences at 12, 3 and 4, the brass case back shows minor-moderate scratches, the movement is clean and shows no signs of moisture damage. The gold pencil measures approximately 5.50 cm in length and 0.70 cm in width. It has a French eagle gold assay stamp.
