The statue Memory, designed by Leo Friedlander, was ultimately sculpted by Joseph Campo and William Kapp from 100,000 pounds of white marble. At a monumental twenty-three feet, the magnificent sculpture stands majestically yet mournfully at the end of a Shrine dedicated to the Virginians who died in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf War.
