the set probably professionally refinished; stable and sturdy, and freshly reupholstered in a modern fabric, which remains mostly clean throughout;
six chairs with repaired breaks to splat stiles and/or crest-rail attachments (four side chairs and two armchairs), some breaks more severe than others, with some evident pins or plugs to some chairs; and two side chairs with repaired breaks along back of one leg each, near seat frame attachments; some bronze mounts slightly loose, but overall secure; some of the bronze mounts appear to be replaced, judging by the slightly varying casting and surface quality and design; one armchair with break / loss to bronze mount on front of seat rail; a couple minor losses to molding along crest-rails; minor occasional scuffing and scraping to legs commensurate with age and use; back of seat rails are numbered with Roman numerals
