Lot Essay:
Raoul Dufy painted several views along the Loire Valley, alternating between atmospheric renditions of the river and picturesque views of the many castles in the region. The present work depicts the Château de Langeais, a 12th century castle about 30km east of Tours, known for hosting the wedding of Charles VIII with Anne de Bretagne on December 6, 1491.
