The relined canvas in generally good overall condition, especially considering age of canvas, though there are some areas of scattered retouch and restoration as seen under ultraviolet light. The retouched areas include in parts of the background, parts of the foreground, particularly at or along the lower edge of the canvas, mostly at lower right corner, as well as at lower left, just at the base and around the brush in figure's right hand. There is additional scattered retouch to her hair and around her head. Under UV light: figure's left arm appears darker, muddier than surrounding areas, indicative of various layers of varnish and possible inpainting. Opaque varnish on some areas makes reading through very difficult.
