Charles-François Delamarche (1740-1817) was one of the most celebrated geographers and map-makers of the 18th century and was known for his important treatise on celestial and terrestrial globes drawn from the Ptolemaic and Copernican systems. His son Félix Delamarche and cartographer Charles Dien carried on the business after his death.
The surface of the globe overall with some fading and discoloration as expected; areas of minor losses and cracking, including a repaired crack extending from the North Pole through Russia and ending above Korea. Some lifting and cracking to paper and paint on the outer rings; one quarter-ring support with a repaired break. The ebonized base with some minor cracks and losses. Presents well overall, stable and ready to place.
