6 1/8 in. lg. silver fork with initials "W. A. M." engraved on the handle. (Some tarnishing, some indentations and scratches to surfaces throughout.) Original utensil box with velvet and satin interior included. Modern inked scrap of paper identifies the utensil to "William A. Moore 5th Regt. N. H. Volunteers Co. C..." and modern printed slip of paper records biographical information about Moore. No other provenance or supporting evidence provided.
Capt. William A Moore of the 5th New Hampshire Infantry served also as a member of Duryeas Zouaves prior to his service in the 5th. He was killed in action at Fredericksburg in December of 1862.
