Boston [MA], 27 June 1794. 1p, approx. 8 x 12 in. with integral address panel (extensive adhesive repair, dampstaining, losses). Docketed on verso "Application of Genl. Town for powder."
Major General Town requests "a Supply of Powder for General Muster" and other supplies for the artillery companies under his command.
In "Descendants of William Towner," Major General Salem Towne is described as a "prominent man in his day" who was among the first to respond to the Lexington Alarm, served as an officer in the Revolutionary War, was a member of the Constitutional Convention of 1780, and served as a representative of his town.
