Singer produced dials for several Rolex models, such as the Submariner, Datejust, and Daytona. Singer dials made for Rolex watches are clearly marked on the back with an embossed Singer logo.
Please note that the luminous plots are absent at 1, 2 and 8 o'clock. There is a portion of red color missing near the 60 second area on the 9 o'clock subdial. The outer ring of all three subdials shows discoloration and age related patina. Both the hour and minute hands show light scratches. The bezel shows moderate scratches easily visible to the naked eye with nicks to the outer edges at the 125, 145, 180 and 200. The bottom lug on the crown side shows scratches and the others show moderate scratching. The crystal is in overall good condition. It is in the specialist’s opinion that the crystal is not original, as noted on the Rolex service guarantee. The case back shows light scratching as well as the lugs. The prototype dial is signed 'Singer' as well as denoting the Singer logo in the appropriate placement on the reverse. Please note that when our watchmaker was taking the watch apart to get images of the Singer logo it was noted that there was a dial screw missing. An appropriate size screw was found to prevent damage to the dial but is not a Valjoux specific screw. The inner case back is stamped 6263 which is not uncommon for this case configuration. The bracelet shows an approximate 20% flex/stretch. Please see condition images for more details of the above conditions.
Bracelet size: Approx. 6 3/4 inches inner circumference
Please note that Freeman’s Hindman does not warranty the watch at the time of the auction or after its purchase. Potential buyers should be advised that though the watch may be running at the time of cataloging, it may stop running before the auction and servicing is recommended for all timepieces. The authenticity of individual parts is not guaranteed since repairs and restoration may have occurred. Hindman assumes all watches are unisex and does not specify the gender of a piece. For size reference, please see the case measurements of the piece listed under dimensions.
