Overall sturdy and ready-to-place condition. The marble tops are 20th century replacements, but a stylistically-appropriate marble and cut to thick proportions with a molded front edge. The tables were likely originally painted or gilded, now stripped. There are traces of "overspray" from prior gilding visible on the undersides of the stretchers, along with (possibly) some remnants of cream paint. There are 19th century (or later) screws inserted into the fronts of the tables where the legs and friezes are joined, suggesting possible repair or adaptation from another form to make two console tables. There are later (19th century) corner braces beneath the marble tops. One table's stretcher has a 19th century repair with an added metal bracket. Both stretchers' carved rosette medallions are likely 20th century replacements. Perhaps they originally had urn finials instead.
