Lot Note:
Bearden experimented with editioned collages in his Ritual Bayou series of 1971, in which he created collages out of photo-lithographs of his previous works, including from his 1971 exhibition Romare Bearden: The Prevalence of Ritual at the Museum of Modern Art. However, Bearden’s process was very laborious, and it is unlikely that he completed the full intended edition of 75.
Framed: 22 3/4 x 26 inches.
Plywood: 17 7/8 x 21 1/4 inches.
Minor surface dirt; colors appear slightly attenuated; slight discoloration to collage elements; slight wear to edges; appears to be in good condition. Please request additional images.
