The chest is in very sturdy structural condition and is constructed with peg/dowel construction. The chest does display expected wear commensurate with age. The patinated painted finish and stenciling are most likely very well-done later embellishments. The case interior as well as drawer interiors have been relatively recently refurbished. The top displays considerable wear and areas where the mortise and tenon joinery are slightly loose.
