Although the picture shows significant age and is contained in a 17th century-style frame, the weakness of the man's posture, framing of his head and the way the ruff is executed suggested it is a copy, not a 17th century picture. Visible separation of panel at seams and age cracks that have been in-painted. Conserved by Baumgartner Restoration in Chicago. Additional images available upon request.
