Three-quarter leather-bound album, 12 x 7.25 in., featuring 25 silver gelatin photographs, each 7 x 5 in., showing landscapes and city scenes across pre-statehood (1907) Oklahoma towns. Gilt-imprinted cover reads, "Views on the lines of the INDIAN TERRITORY / TRACTION COMPANY, South McAlester, / McAlester, Krebs and Alderson." Each page with Crockett, South McAlester, Indian Territory blindstamp at bottom and printed caption at left. Views highlight various aspects of life in early Oklahoma towns, such as the busyness of Choctaw Avenue, lined with early power lines, storefronts, horses, carriages, and people crossing the dirt road; and the seeming repose of its more rural areas, dotted with homes, barns, fences, railroad lines, powerhouses, and, in one photograph, a coal mine. Photograph titles include "Looking Northeast from Top of / Stack at Power House showing / Dam and Reservoir," "Looking East on Choctaw Ave. / from Main St.," "Looking East from Ball Park / Switch Showing West Limits / of Krebs," and "Looking North from South Hill / of McAlester-showing McAlester and / Main Line Junction on Right."
Photographs in overall good condition, with some wear to edges, some toning, and some spotting/soiling to several images. Album pages with some discoloration and wear to edges. Album with wear including soiling, discoloration, loss to leather and finish in some areas, and one missing binding post. Gilt title still bold and legible.
