Boudoir photograph credited on verso to William L. Sawyers, Purcell, Indian Territory, featuring three Oklahoma Territory Indians in a tipi. A blanket is spread on the ground, with game pieces of some sort arranged before them. With his partner, William J. Lenny, Sawyers operated a photography studio in Purcell (active ca 1889-1891), where they photographed Indian tribes who lived on nearby reservations. Many of these images were reproduced in the US Census of 1890.
Wear to photograph edges, particularly at lower right near corner.
