From a stated edition of six, created for the American Tapestries exhibition that toured some thirty art institutions in the United States and Canada, and was exhibited at Expo '70 in Osaka, Japan
H: 89, W: 140 ½ in.
A preparatory sketch for the present lot is in the collection of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, as “Untitled,” 1965, colored pencil and graphite on graph paper, gift of Regina Slatkin, Carole and Laura Slatkin.
Another example from this edition hangs in the lobby of the United Nations Plaza Apartments, 860-870 United Nations Plaza, New York.
