The tables with inlaid ebony star motifs to tabletops, the chairs with gilded edging to seats
Originally designed to be paired with two identical tables to seat twelve for dinner
Branded signature to underside of tabletop: “Maxime Old”

The present lot was designed for and originally installed in the dining room of the Loize family residence in Marly, outside Paris. The Marly interiors were a major project for Old, and an important articulation of his style. “The whole,” writes Yves Badetz, “illustrates perfectly an elegant residence in the postwar Parisian countryside.”
