(ii), xv, (i), 102 pp. From the library of Palmer scholar, Raymond Lister, and with his book-plate on front paste-down. Illustrated with 14 etchings, by and after Palmer. Publisher's full vellum over boards, stamped in gilt, boards warped and soiled; all edges untrimmed; front hinge worn; foxing to endpapers; scattered light spotting to text and plates; small ink stain in bottom of plate facing p. 88.
One of only 10 presentation copies from the limited large-paper edition of British landscape painter and printmaker Samuel Palmer's work on Virgil. Raymond Lister (1919-2001) was an authority on the work of Palmer and published numerous volumes on the artist, including a biography (1974), his letters (1975), a catalogue raisonné (1988), as well as other works.
