German mapmaker Tobias Lotter's edition of Matthaus Seutter's map of the British middle colonies. Based on Lewis Evans's famed map of 1749, with Lotter's name replacing the Seutter imprint. Likely executed to encourage settlement in the region, the map extends from New England at top, south toward Delaware and parts of Virginia, detailing the region's numerous settlements, villages, and geographical features. The elaborate cartouche at top left depicts William Penn trading with Native Americans.
