Decorated with gilt landscape and inscription of Tengwang Ge Xu (Preface to Prince Teng's pavilion) by poet Wang Bo (650-676.AD), over deep sapphire blue ground.
H: 16 1/4 in.
Tengwang Ge Xu is considered to be one the most important Tang dynasty poems, often quoted. Although the poet Wang Bo lived a relatively short life, he was arguably the most prestigious poet of Chinese letters, and is known as one of the "Four Paragons of the Early Tang".
