A handsome first edition of French archaeologist and historian Charles Texier's study on Byzantine architecture in Asia Minor, drawn from studies made by him in the region between 1833-37, and from Richard Popplewell Pullan's studies executed on behalf of the Society of the Dilettanti in 1862. The work includes detailed maps, plans, elevations, and reconstructions of ruins of temples and theaters at Assos, Branchidae, Aizani, Ancyra, Aphrodisias, Aspendus, Iassos, Myra, Patara and Pergamus, and is a sequel to Texier and Pullan's Byzantine Architecture, published the previous year, in 1864 (see lot 152).
