First and limited edition, #61/600 numbered copies, signed by Rackham. 4to. viii, (207), (1) pp. Illustrated with color frontispiece and 15 color illustrations, all mounted and all with captioned tissue guards, 8 full-page illustrations in color, and numerous in-text black and white illustrations. Publisher's cream cloth, stamped in gilt, soiled; top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed; illustrated endpapers, very lightly foxed; separations in gutter at pp. 64-65, 72-73, 80-81, 88-89, 96-97, 112-113, 120-121, 168-169, previous owner's book-plate on front paste-down; Latimore & Haskell, p. 55, Riall, p. 146
Hawthorne's A Wonder-Book for Girls and Boys was first published in 1851. Rackham was at the height of his powers when he illustrated this edition.
