Londres (London), January 16, 1834. One sheet folded to make four pages, 9 x 7 1/2 in. (229 x 191 mm) One-page manuscript letter in a secretarial hand, signed by Charles Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord as the French Ambassador to the United Kingdom, to Rene-Eustache d'Osmond, sending condolences upon hearing of the death of his brother, Antoine-Eustache: "My dear Mr. Osmond, you can not doubt that I learned with sorrow the loss of your brother. We have spent many days together, and I appreciated his good spirit, and all his excellent qualities, no one cared for him more than me, a friendship that was constant and sincerely high. Please address to Madame his wife, my sincerest condolences. Please receive my dear Mr. Osmond the assurance of my distinguished considerations as well as my old attachment. Le Prince de Talleyrand. PS. I would be obliged if you could tell Madame Osmond, when you find the occasion, that she would make me happy if she could keep a drawing of me done by Carmel, and that you, her husband, must know I had kept."

Rene-Eustache d'Osmond (1751-1838) was a former French nobleman and diplomat, whose brother Antoine-Eustache d'Osmond was Talleyrand's longtime confidante and personal secretary.
