Washington, (D.C.), July 23, 1870. One sheet folded to make four pages, 11 x 8 1/2 in. (279 x 216 mm). Partially-printed presidential order, signed by Ulysses S. Grant, directing the "Secretary of State," Hamilton Fish, "to affix the Seal of the United States to a Warrant for the remission of the remainder of the sentence of Bernard Curren..."; creasing from old folds; unevenly toned and with mat burn; mounted along edges in mat with an engraved portrait of Grant, and in frame, 15 x 21 5/8 in. (381 x 549 mm).
Bernard Curren is presumably the same Curren who plead guilty to passing counterfeit money in April, 1870.
