An endlessly entertaining speaking picture book, illustrated with eight chromolithographs of various barnyard animals, including birds, a cow, donkey, lamb, etc.; each with accompanying printed text, and with nine original corresponding pull tabs, that when activated recreate the sound of the animal. Publisher's red cloth-covered wooden box in the shape of a book, large chromolithographic cover label; all edges gilt, top and bottom edges with carved foliated sound vents.

A very well preserved, unsophisticated, and fully working example of this popular children's speaking picture book.
