The hand-sewn single appliqued cotton stars arranged in a "scatter" pattern on a two-part Merino wool bunting canton, hand-sewn Merino wool bunting stripes, hand-sewn cotton twill header fitted with two brass grommets, and accented with fold of blue and red Merino wool bunting.

Kansas, the 34th state, was admitted into the Union January 29th, 1861.
