A Classical two-drawer mahogany and stencil-decorated work table Probably New York, NY, circa 1830

Square top, bolection drawer over bowed drawer with two brass pulls, flanked by two turned drop finials, gilt stencil-decorated, all over a support on four legs with carved leafage, on paw form feet with brass casters.

Ketchum, Jr., American Cabinetmakers: Marked American Furniture, 1640-1940 (Crown Publishers, Inc., New York: 1995), pg. 63, which bears the stenciled mark of Samuel Carter (active c. 1827-1834) and part of the White House Collection (see pg. 62).
