See American Philosophical Society webpage, "A Final Image: The Thomas Sully Portrait of Thomas Jefferson," and Biddle, Edward and Fielding, Mantle, The Life & Works of Thomas Sully (1783-1872), Charleston (Garnier & Company: 1969), pg. 191, no. 914.
