Both sides densely engraved with Masonic devices, one side bears the initials, "IL," and date "1804."

This Masonic jewel is thought to have been made for a member of the Hiram Lodge, No. 28 at Frederick, Maryland, established in 1799 and lapsed in 1808. The engraving and inscriptions closely resemble a jewel in the collection of the Grand Lodge, A. F and A. M, of Maryland Masonic Museum that is inscribed, "Hiram Lodge #28, 5801." The initials of the present jewel may be that of the silversmith or the original owner.
