Note
According to the artist, this work is the last in his Sheep Meadow series, which he painted in his studio in the Meat Market, New York City, from sketches and pastels done on location in Central Park. Throughout the series, he focused on the transcendent effects of sunrays over Sheep Meadow in the late afternoon and into the evening.
