Francis Hopkinson was an early politician and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. He was born in Philadelphia, but later moved to Bordentown, New Jersey.

According to oral history, Francis Hopkinson (1737-1791), descended in the family to Joseph Hopkinson (1775-1842), to Francis Hopkinson (1796-1870), to Elizabeth Biddle Baird, to Francis Baird.
