Note

This newly-discovered work appears to be a preliminary study for Folinsbee's larger 1913-1914 painting, Snow Patches, whose current location is still unknown. Both works were possibly painted from the exact same vantage point in Woodstock, New York during the winter months of 1913-1914. At the time, Folinsbee was indeed studying with Harry Leith-Ross at The Woodstock School of Art, where he learned and mastered the technique of plein air painting, as exemplified by the quickly applied, fresh colors in the present work.
