The yellow veined, black marble stand with central recess and two pen holders at corners flanking cold painted bronze figure of an Indian brave kneeling beside the inkwell with marble insert, modelled as a boulder topped with a buffalo skull, titled in cast, "The Vanishing Race," signed "Plein Omaha" to verso.
H: 8 in. W: 18 in. D: 10 in.Charles Plein worked as the principal colorist in the Omaha studio of Frank A. Rinehart, noted photographer of Native Americans. Plein was known as a collector of Native American artifacts who devoted himself to the study of the Native American and his history.
