The first, with hide backed bands decorated with stepped pattern in red, yellow and purple quill, blue beaded edge and quill wrapped slats with tin cone and feathers; the second, of red, green and yellow quill-wrapped slats with tin cone and feather ornaments.
L(s): 25 in. (longest arm band) and 18 1/2 in. (neckpiece)Provenance: The Luther R. and Frances T. Zehner Collection.
Dr. Zehner records that on April 26, 1950, "Patrick (Rattling Hail) called and I bought the following articles from him: Arm bands-Judge Zahn got these upon the death of Bear Comes Out in 1934. Zahn then sold them to George Rattling Hail (Patrick's brother). George gave them to Patrick. The cuff part is made of old style quill work and the streamers are of quill work made by Patrick 3 years ago. Judge says they are about 75 years old." The neckpiece was purchased from Patrick Rattling Hail, April 21, 1950.
