Shirt with bands of yellow and purple quill work, fringed sleeves, the moccasins worked with red quills.
Provenance: The Luther R. and Frances T. Zehner Collection.
Dr. Zehner's diary notes on September 12, 1950, "I saw Charlie Black Bear's wagon coming from the easy way out on the prairie. I took his picture then bought a quill war shirt and quill moccasins from him. The quill war shirt was made by Hanna Levens in 1942. Leather is brown-tanned by burning corn cobs. Quill moccasins made by Charlie's wife in 1942."
