Equipped with pair of oars, seats, paddle and carrying yoke, with affixed metal plaque: "Hanmer Boat Shop Willard J. Hanmer 202 Lake Street Saranac Lake, NY."

Like his father Theodore Hanmer (1860-1957) from whom he learned his trade, Willard J. Hanmer was revered as a master guideboat builder. The Willard Hanmer Guideboat Race was first held in 1962 to honor the recently deceased Hanmer and is still held annually.

Provenance: Accompanied by original contract dated "December 27, 1960" and signed by Hanmer, by typed sheet with order specifications, and by letter dated, "June 19, 1961" from Hanmer alerting buyer of the boat's completion.
