The rectangular marble top on molded frieze ornamented with giltwood scrolls on brass-capped turned columns, mirrored back, shaped plinth inset with oval of white marble, all on carved giltwood paw feet.
H: 39 1/2 in. W: 48 1/2 in. D: 20 in.Provenance: Illustrated in The Magazine Antiques, May 1989, Pl XI with the caption, "This example was acquired from descendants of Louis Clapier.. but it is thought to possibly have belonged originally to another branch of the family." The caption continues with Barry's will lists "a wine cellar and pier table" possibly identifying this type of pier table.
