The first sampler, by "Sarah Pearson June 28 1791," worked with alphabet and a strawberry border; the second, by "Lucy Salter," with alphabet and numerals, both worked with silk threads on linen grounds; together with three white worked baby caps, with notes, "This cap was made 1804. Worn by Dr. L.P. Coleman and all his children. L.P. born 1804"; "Cap made by Susan Howell for her sister Margaret Howell (Saltars) baby Lawrence born Nov 1811- Susan Howell Fenwick"; and "This cap made by Sarah B. Coleman worn by all herre babies-last baby Elizabeth born 1810-July First." A hand written geneology and geneological notebook of the family accompany lot.

Lucy Saltar was the daughter of John Saltar and Margaret Howell Salter. Sarah Beakes Pearson was the daughter of Job and Mary Beakes Pearson. She married James Coleman.
