Sale 1351
Estimate$400 – $600
.38 Special. 5.5" barrel length. SN: F1157. Blued metal finish with oil finished walnut grips. Single-action loading gate revolver based upon the Colt Single Action Army built using a non-Colt frame. A Colt address mark to the right barrel reads COLT'S MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A., while the left barrel is marked COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL. The frame displays a rough cast finish, as does the forward gripstrap. Item is missing the loading gate and associated mounting components.
Good. Bore is Frosty with a brown patina throughout and crisp rifling. The metal finish is strongest on the cylinder and ejector rod housing, but has been buffed off of the left barrel. Light pitting on barrel next to polishing marks suggests the item has been cleaned aggressively at some point. A gray patina dominates with the frame showing patches of brown overall. The grips have handling wear, mars, and dings. Cylinder shows some patches of light pitting but retains most of the blue with a continuous turn ring. Action times and indexes correctly, but the hammer is weak, and the action fails to produce four clicks.
