.44 Caliber. 8" barrel length. SN: 94597. Blued metal finish with brass triggerguard and walnut two piece grips. Single-action percussion full frame revolver with octagonal barrel and pivoting loading lever. The barrel address marking is weak with the patent date obliterated and showing only the date of 1858 followed by E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW MODEL. Left grip panel shows a weak cartouche reading OWA for government inspector Orville W. Ainsworth. Further sub inspectors initials include W marking to left barrel and on the cylinder, H to the loading lever, an asterisk in front of the loading lever stud, U struck beneath the right grip panel, and a D to the triggerguard. Barrel serial number reads 54458.
Very Good. Bore is Bright with strong rifling throughout. Item shows some extant blue beneath the barrel, rear recoil shield, and on the cylinder pin with a strong niter blue to the hammer. Further shows some caramel patina forming on the triggerguard. The metalwork overall is a gray to brown patina with some residue on the cylinder. Grips show handling wear, mars, and two large internal chips along the interior surface of the butt. Action times and indexes correctly
